Sunset Dragons are closely related to sunrise dragons. However, their behaviors differ greatly. Sunset Dragons generally live alone or in small packs. They are more active in the evening, hunting and performing all of their daily tasks as the sun sets.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Descended from the mighty Dorkface lineage, Spyro was completely unaware of her famous bloodline until her good friend, a Script Dragon named Beckett, grew curious and left to investigate. After months of absence, Beckett returned with the evidence of the heritage. Both were astounded to find that Spyro's ancestors were Midas Dorkface and Shallynaar. Proud of her bloodline, she took her family's name.

Spyro herself is friendly and excitable, with a disposition all too similar to that of a puppy. She tries to befriend everyone, particularly Ahkeela the Sunrise dragon, who refuses to associate with Spyro due to her muddy, impure heritage. Spyro is still proud of her lineage, but is sad that she will never be able to earn Ahkeela's approval.
