When Water Dragons mature, they lose the ability to survive on land, entering the water permanently. They are adept swimmers and eat whatever fish are in the lake they live in. They tend to inhabit the same lake for their entire lives, although a few live in the ocean and swim all over the world.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Fin Kedinn uses an underwater tunnel to get into the lake underneath the cave. She uses her razor-sharp teeth to kill fish and whales. Her long tail acts as a rudder when swimming. She does not have gills, but an amazing ability to hold her breath underwater for days at a time. This also allows Fin Kedinn to be a very patient dragon. She enjoys chomping on seaweed and coral to remove bones and scales from her teeth after eating. When sleeping she covers herself up in sand and mud to keep herself warm. Swimming out into the sea during the day and through the lakes and rivers during the night, Fin Kedinn has a wide environment to live in despite her restriction to the water.
