Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Huaquero lives in the mountains, like all of the other gold Incan dragons. His name is the Incan word for "treasure hunter". Every day, all day, Huaquero can be found in the caves or near the stream searching for all types of treasure. His hoard is enormous but he pays hardly any attention to it, since he believes that actually searching and finding the treasure is the best part, not the treasure itself. Huaquero only keeps a small portion of what he finds, anyway. The gold he pans for in the stream he has no purpose for, since he naturally has an abundance of that. He trades the gold along with the silver ore he finds (since the color clashes with his scales) to the commons, and the other precious jewels like jade to the silver dragons. Huaquero's true desire is for artifacts and fossils. His cave looks more like a museum than a fierce dragon's cave, but he wouldn't have it any other way.
