Look, it’s grown frills, and the glow around it has become even brighter.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Beloved Shining Star, or Star as she affectionately called, is an oddity in her weyr. She is the only dragon in her home to be perpetually young. This has been the source of much speculation amongst her Keeper's lot, but only Star and her Keeper, Misha, know the truth: Long ago, Star made a decision that she wanted to remain forever young, and so together Keeper and dragon sought out a very ancient and unbreakable magic, which left the little Star eternally youthful. Sometimes she dreams about being all grown up, like all of her friends in her weyr, but she is happy. She has made it her personal goal to ensure that every hatchling in Misha's weyr always has a playmate and is never alone, and as one of the oldest dragons in the weyr, her counsel is much respected and sought after on difficult matters. Her light-hearted attitude and carefree youthful spirit are a constant source of comfort for all of the residents in her weyr.
