Frilled Dragons are smaller than most other breeds, but when threatened, they stretch out their wings and frills to appear larger. They generally do not like to fight and prefer hiding to confrontation. Frilled dragons live in small groups and often band together to scare off potential threats. Males also use their frills as a way to attract mates, with those displaying the “best” frills being more likely to breed.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Frilled Kyo is short tempered, impulsive and rude, but he can be very protective of those he cares about. He does not back down from any challenge and when Mamon attempted to bully him as he does with any hatchling, Kyo's first reaction was to bite the vampire dragon on the ankle, though it left him spitting in disgust for days.

Unlike his brother Yuki, Kyo managed to make friends easily with the other dragons, despite being raised away from the main family. He usually gets into a fight with each new dragon he meets, but more often than not becomes good friends with them afterwards.

Kyo also hates baths. As a hatchling his mother had to carry or drag him by his tail into the water, but now that he is an adult, one of the larger dragons simply throws him into the lake, making him swim to the shore.
