Sunsong Amphipteres are an unusual breed. Due to light interference caused by their magical nature, they don’t seem to be affected by any ambient light source. However, when struck by direct sunlight, they shine a brilliant gold. They are playful and ever in flight; their ethereal and mysterious appearance and the fact that they are usually only seen at a distance have led many to believe they are a symbol of hope and good fortune.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Saileene and her mate Natarrin are always flying. They have circled the earth hundreds of times, due to the fact they have already lived for decades. They don't always travel the same path, the scenery would get boring after a while. So they make new paths around the earth. They always fly side-by-side, because they see their relationship as even; neither one is better or more powerful than the other. Neither is the leader, neither is the follower.

Saileene grew up in a large pack of her kind. Her father was the leader, and he had great plans for her to take over the pack since he was quite old. But she was always telling her father that wasn't what she wanted to be; she didn't want to be reigning over everyone else, she wanted to be their equal. So when the mysterious loner, Natarrin, happened upon her and her problem, he offered a life of freedom and equality, only if she would be his mate. She of course accepted, and they have been together since.
