Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Its markings give off an otherworldly light.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

This hatchling is fascinated with the offspring of frogs, because they resemble the shape of her starry pattern. She has a small pool in which she raises them and watches them grow. She is especially interested in seeing their tails disappear. Once they become adults, she saves a few as breeding stock but passes the rest on to dragons that appreciate the taste of fresh frog.
