Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

The Orle-annia is a guild dedicated to upholding the ancient dragon tradition of hoard-keeping. The guild boasts a massive group treasure hoard containing all sorts of riches. Members are required to add to this pile once a month in exchange for the freedom to take whatever they want from it. Dragons that keep hoards with the Orle-annia often have oddly specific collections.

Malgelir's hoard is not as original as that of a typical Orle-annia dragon. She is nearly invisible to those who slip past her adoptive father, Rustaer, among her great heaps of gold coins and precious gems. This camouflage has helped her avoid violence towards the few who manage to either run or sneak past Rustaer. She has found that if she waits until they get close, simply lifting her head or opening her emerald-like eyes is enough to startle away the would-be thieves. Malgelir is a gentle soul, relying on both the guild's public hoard and the riches Rustaer collects from his victims to stock her own collection.
