Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Wimper is very active, he likes to play with his siblings. Golden Brother and Wimper like to get away from the family. Since they are the oldest out of their parents' brood, they are allowed to roam freely as long as they are together. He also likes to sneak out to see his beloved Aspers. He and his brother sneak out together some nights to go see Aspers and Blast of Darkness. They all like to hang out together, but they must do it in secret because Wimpers parents do not like Aspers and her sister. They think they are not pure or good at heart because they are not Striped Dragons. But really, they are just scared for their boys to fall in love.
