Neotropical Dragons are a breed that originate in rainforests. They are fun-loving and enjoy lounging on tree branches, eating whatever fruit they find. They are also often found sunning themselves on rocks, using their large wings to soak up the rays. In the summer, males compete for mates by showing off their striped wings and gliding in spirals down the tree trunks. It is said that the larger the wings, the more likely the male will attract a suitable mate.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Because of his tree-loving personality, which his nature as a Neotropical dragon dictates, he was given the name Hayashi, meaning forest. His epithet "Dragon Leaf Star" shows that he belongs to "kaiachan's scroll".

He spends most of his time to lie on a bed of leaves or to bath in the sun rays. Consequently, he hates the night, in which time he is unable to enjoy that luxury. He also loves to gather fruit and to share them with others. However, he tends to boast about his appearance, of which he is so proud of—especially his wings.

Therefore, he takes it as a personal offense if someone makes fun of his yellow strips. In such cases, he does not shy away to take revenge, ruining their faces or wings. If something like that happens, everyone usually knows that it his work. However, they always fail to prove that, because Hayashi is very careful and never attacks directly. In such moments, he loves to play innocent, adding more humiliation to his victims situation.
