Albino Dragons are so named because their translucent, scale-less skin lacks all pigment. Instead, to help protect their bodies from the sun, they are coated in an oily secretion that blocks the sun’s harmful rays. The call of an albino dragon is similar to a barn owl--a shriek instead of a roar.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Being a descendent of a magi dragon, despite herself being an albino, Nova Magi believes to have magical powers. The albino clan she belongs to is rather skeptical of this claim, since she has yet to show any magical potential. She doesn't let that dissuade her, though. Instead, she went on a year long journey to find a master who would apprentice her.

While she didn't find a master magician willing to, she did meet the son of a sorcerer, who himself was still learning. He showed her a few tricks she could learn without actually using magic. Once she returned home, grateful to the Sorcerer's Son, she showed off her newly gained abilities to the other albinos. They were struck speechless, and though it wasn't true magic, they never realized that. And Nova Magi was happy to keep them in the dark about her secrets.
