Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Shadow is generally a calm, level-headed dragon, like her father (though less uptight), but she occasionally has fits of anger, much like her mother. These fits are uncommon, and are usually caused by stress from repeated failures when doing something. During these fits, it's very unwise to approach her as she'll lash out and attack any who get too close. Which, as she inherited her father's fighting skills and her mother's ferocity, is very, very bad, and will end, if not in death, then in scars that will last a lifetime.

Otherwise, Shadow is a surprisingly gentle dragon who cares very much for her friends, and shares her father's love of flowers, and her mother's love of storms (and flying in them). She can sometimes be found dancing in the moonlight, as she enjoys the sensuous and mysterious feelings the moon's light gives to an otherwise boring area.

Shadow is also very protective of those she cares about, so be careful when dealing with them—you'll live longer that way.
