Thunder Dragons are the masters of electricity. Their wings gather energy as they soar through the clouds, and when they clap their wings together they can create devastating arcs of lightning. They can stay airborne nearly indefinitely, landing only to sleep and breed; they catch their prey from the air and take moisture from the clouds. A thunder dragon’s roar is considered to be an omen of misfortune.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Maellana is a stormy blue dragon with blazing yellow eyes and a deeper blue underbelly. Her home is in the clouds, where she delights in making noises like thunder to watch the other creatures outside the cave take cover and wait for the rain. Maellana spends most of the time in the air, but she returns to the cave every so often to check up on the other dragons. She has a great fondness for hatchlings and often takes them up into the clouds with her so they can see the world from up high. Maellanas closest friend is Volteara, the electric dragon, and they often spend time together playing in thunderstorms or flying through the clouds. Maellana is very gentle and kind, but when her rage peaks, she can be very destructive. Her power over thunder and lightning is her greatest weapon in battle, and she is rarely rivaled in her endurance and agility in the air. Maellana is a dragon that other often love to confide in, as she is both intelligent and gentle.
