Coastal Waverunners spend most of their time skimming the waves along the coast, snatching up their prey from the shallow waters. They have developed markings along the leading edges of their body that help disguise them as breaking waves. When they are not hunting, they enjoy playing among sand-dunes and shallow tide-pools. These dragons live in small but noisy rookeries. Some stories say Waverunners can fly for days on end without landing.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Her name means "Commanding Wave" in Japanese. She is a daughter of Kei and Mizu. She doesn't have the best sense of direction, especially for a WaveRunner. Ever since she was little, she's been getting lost. Usually it would take long for someone to find her and return her home. However, she once got so lost that she was gone for days, and a rescue party had to be sent out. She'd been following a school of fish, and had gotten far out to sea. The weather wasn't the best, and soon enough, a storm forced her to find shelter. Luckily she found a small patch of land to hunker down on. She rode out the storm, but when it passed, she couldn't find her way home. She was hungry, cold, and tired when Kyoha found her. He had to carry her back to the mainland all on his own (no small feat). When she came too, her handsome savior standing above her, and Shikinami fell in love. They became mates soon after. They are deeply in love, and always will be.
