Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It’s brightly colored and chirps quite often.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Spark-Eyes, like a few baby dragons, learnt communicative telepathy while still in her egg. She came to the attention of the nearby humans after she started complaining about the uncontrollable 'fizzy dreams' that hit her at unpredictable intervals, giving her headaches. The older dragons realised that she had been blessed with the gift of future sight, and she was promptly taken away to the human settlement, where she was worshipped as an oracle. Not really knowing what was going on, Spark-Eyes became miserable as she noticed other dragons avoiding her and humans treating her like a divining machine. That was when she was kidnapped by Chyris, who had been observing the situation and understood the need for Spark-Eyes to be exactly what she was-- a playful little girl. She lives with the other hatchlings being looked after by Chyris' friends, Kione and Leilin, only occasionally troubled by her sudden visions.
