Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Ever since it hatched, it has been hiding among the tree leaves.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

TropicalMoon is a Neotropical Dragon hatchling who loves to play in the forest, like most of her species. She takes more risks up in the canopy than the average hatchling, leaping from limb to limb and climbing up into the highest most branches. She loves fruit, and always seems to find the tastiest ones in the woods. Her parents know to look for her in some of her favorite trees if she doesn't come home on time.
