And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.
Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.
Although small in stature, Silvai has a great heart. Her domain is that of the fluttering snowfalls and lacing frost, but her mere presence seems to warm up the cave with the almost-tangible aura of her innocence and playfulness. Christmas dragons are said to encompass the spirit of giving and love; it's hard to doubt that rumor when this adorable hatchling is gamboling around the caverns, nipping at one's tail and rolling in the snow. She can convince the grumpiest adult and the meanest hatchling to play games with her, and she can often be found scouting out dragons that look sad so that she can pounce on them with an embrace.
