Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon... except for the tangle of dangerous-looking vines surrounding it...

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

I shall Flower was the runt of the clutch.  It hatched much later than its brothers and sisters, but swore that eventually it'll reach adulthood.  However, it has yet to realize its wish.  The other Vine dragons half-heartedly supported its campaign of fresh fertilizer and plenty of sun.
