Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon... except for the tangle of dangerous-looking vines surrounding it...

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Rat's Nest of Vine's mother constantly told it to brush its vines, and that if it didn't, it would be stuck like that forever. It ignored her, obviously, and just minutes after their most recent argument had the misfortune of being frozen (that being its worst vine day ever, of course).

Its mother is often heard saying, on her occasional visits, "I told you so."
