Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Unlike the other hatchlings, this one hatched with wings.

And look! Its back legs have become a second set of wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

The female skywing swoops in, spotting you and letting out a soft, musical twitter, skidding to a halt on your shoulder and twining around your arm. The hatchling's scales are still very soft, sky blue on top, creamy white underneath. Eyes like light sapphires watch you for a moment before she nudges your hand with her snout, wanting to be petted, apparently. She is very cute, and incredibly friendly. Slithering off your arm, she takes to the air again and circles around you with soft, friendly cries, and doesn't leave your side until you leave the cave.
