Pink Dragons are primarily herbivores and only eat meat during the mating season, when mates will exchange kills. When it is not breeding season, pink dragons spend most of their time incubating eggs and caring for their clan’s young. Due to their feminine color, it was traditionally thought that pink dragons were a strictly female breed, but this is not true.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Ted Goodwin is a gambler. While he has no table and cards to play with as humans do, he will commonly place bets on which hatchlings are the fastest, which dragons the most likely to mate, and how long he can stand not making any new bets. This latter challenge he has lost every time, faithfully and unwisely trusting that he can manage twelve hours gambling-free. Despite his tendency to play away anything he earns, Ted has a decently sized hoard: While not rich by any standards, he treats others well enough that they sometimes lose purposely in order to keep him from going broke.
