Holiday dragons are a very mysterious breed. They are only seen during winter, and even then it is hard to catch a glimpse of one. They are responsible for the general cheer that spreads during the holidays. In essence, they are the “Spirits of Winter.”

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Snowy Butterbutt is so named because of his yellow butt that is dappled in white. Unlike most Winter Magi, who have golden posteriors, he was born with white flecks all over his rear end. When he was a hatchling, the other baby dragons would tease Snowy Butterbutt about his differences. As a result, he dipped his rump into liquid gold. The heat burned, but he endured. His concentration on keeping calm was so fierce that he caused a blizzard! As the gold dried, snow began to stick to it. When the metal was solid, he was worse off than before. His owner cast a spell to make the metal flexible and allow it to grow with Snowy Butterbutt, but that was all he could do. From then on, he never attempted to alter his appearance again
