Magi Dragons are, as their name suggests, primarily magic users. They rarely use physical forms of attack. They eat anything they can kill, which is almost everything. They won’t kill unprovoked except when hunting, although they may kill humans if in danger. Their strong magic makes them one of the most feared breeds of dragons.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Myrnekal, like Norivan and Ilya before him, was such a bad fit for the Goldenmage Assembly that he finally left.  In addition to being too quiet and shy to enjoy constantly having to challenge others to keep his position, he also wanted a chance to indulge his interest in cartography.  Dragonhaven Island proved to be ideal for making use of his talent.  None of the inhabitants had done much exploring once determining that, thanks to centuries of habitation by magi and black dragons, the island was far bigger than could be accounted for by the available square footage and probably riddled with spell fragments.  Norivan, who quickly became Myrnekal's closest friend, is always worried that Myrnekal will fail to return from one of his expeditions, and is always researching new protective spells to keep Myrnekal safe, but Myrnekal is cautious enough to avoid most danger.
