Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It occasionally shoots small puffs of smoke from its nose, like it’s trying to breathe fire.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Mystic Pyro Pepper always seems drawn to fire. His mother warned him that he needs to be careful about how he used his flames and what the "Elder Dragons on the Council" did to young dragons that set fire to everything. He just couldn't help himself, the flames always danced around as if calling him to come dance with them. He took off looking for a secret place to light a fire so that he could dance with the flames to his heart content. He found some twigs and some dried up wood and piled it all together, not paying attention to the wind that picked up...and set the fire. The fire got out of hand and a lot of woods got burned, so the Elders all came together and decided that his punishment is to never grow up to be an Adult Red Dragon, which is every little dragon's dream. He still is drawn to the flames, but he only dances and watches them under adult supervision.
