When Water Dragons mature, they lose the ability to survive on land, entering the water permanently. They are adept swimmers and eat whatever fish are in the lake they live in. They tend to inhabit the same lake for their entire lives, although a few live in the ocean and swim all over the world.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Midgee is a quiet, shy water dragon who usually prefers to hide in the weed beds at the bottom of the Lake.  She often feels like an outsider because all the other water-bound dragons in the lake are related to one another, whereas she was acquired from the a pile of abandoned eggs near the cave entrance.  It is unknown how many human hands had touched her egg before but it can be speculated that the rejection may have attributed to her feelings of inadequacy.

However, she has found acceptance from an unlikely source as Threb, a Magi-Dragon she met shortly after hatching.  He treated her fairly and often coaxed her into leaving her protective shell and coming to the surface to speak with him.  Together, they have declared themselves a mated pair and have produced an egg.
