Daydream Dragons are the hosts of daydreams and fantasies. They spend the majority of their time sitting on clouds, dropping daydreams down into the minds of people passing by. Humans who live near Daydream Dragons must be especially careful not to let their thoughts wander, or they could end up spending hours or even days in a trance-like waking dream state.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Just as strange as his name, Trance was born with an especially potent dream aura that happens to make others hallucinate. These hallucinations seem to be based solely on the enraptured individual and grow more vivid the closer they get to Trance. This can become problematic since these visions can be just as relaxing as threatening depending on the individual's mental state, meaning it's possible to have a bad trip just by being near him. Trance himself is quite careless. He doesn't really enjoy interacting with others and doesn't pay attention to those who come close to him. So, it becomes a critical concern to avoid him. However, there are a few who rather enjoy losing touch with reality and will willingly stand around him for a few hours. This are the closest thing Trance has to friends, since they are the only ones who will approach him on their own. Even his parents insist he keep away from the family to avoid incidents, a notion he has had in his head for a long time.
