Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It seems to enjoy sunbathing.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Leafling is an impressionable little hatchling.  Despite the Terrae's protestations, Leafling calls the Forestosaur his father, and nothing will ever budge him from that beleif.  He is always at the massive Terrae's side, pouncing on leaves and sticks.  Leafling is also fond of maple syrup, and by scooping some up on a stick, he will share with his "father".  It is quite endearing to watch, and their bond is touching.
