Fire Gem Dragons are a colorful, flamboyant breed often found in hot climates, particularly around active volcanoes. Their broad tails store the flames they breathe, which are colored by the heavy amount of minerals in the water they drink. These dragons come in a variety of colors, and will collect shiny trinkets and stones that match their own coloration. Despite their hoarding tendencies, though, Fire Gem dragons are social and will often congregate in groups and show off their collections while fawning over the stones their friends and rivals have gathered, occasionally arranging trades.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

User Description

This dragon lives in a cavern which has multiple holes in its roof. He likes to startle those who traverse the hillside above the cavern by popping his head out unexpectedly, greeting them, and then ducking his head back in. He further startles them by successively popping his head out the other holes in his cavern roof, saying something to the traveler, then popping to another hole.

Those who can fly usually take to the air for a better view of what is going on; some just fly off and avoid the hillside altogether. Most fliers have a fun conversation, watching for the next head up.

Few are the pedestrian travelers who can get a word in edgewise; most are too mesmerized by the popping and repopping dragon head to think coherently. On the sad occasion where the traveler stumbles and falls into one of the holes, this dragon has a traveler meal.

One large traveler played whack-a-dragon, applying a tree to his head. Poppahed now avoids the pain of talking to it whenever it comes by.
