Sunbeam Drakes are the diurnal counterparts to Moonglow Drakes, their eggs having been laid during the daylight hours. They are around the size of a small dog, and while docile, can be flighty and easily startled. Most can be found high in treetops enjoying the bright sunlight, tucking themselves away at the first sign of a storm or impending nightfall. Sunbeam Drakes enjoy flying in the light of the sun, and their treetop dances are beautiful, dazzling, and serene.

Though it may appear at first that dragons and drakes have much in common, the two are completely separate species. Drakes are smaller and less intelligent than their cousin species, though both dragons and drakes sit comfortably near the top of the food chain. They are always found bearing antlers and leathery wings. Drakes share many of the same habitats that dragons do, and typically hunt in packs.

User Description

Zhara, sister to Goia and a Day Glory Drake, doesn't care that her wings shine in the sun. She doesn't care that she looks beautiful. What this dragon cares about is intelligence. She cares about how smart she is. She is the most intelligent Drake in her cave and is a teacher to all the hatchlings. They love her because along with being smart and beautiful, Zhara is kind. She has a gentle personality—perfect for teaching hatchlings—and is very quiet. This female Day Glory will not ever say much in public, but she will just hang back in the shadows to watch and listen. When angry, she says nothing and just goes off by herself for a while. In battle if she or her home are in any danger, she will turn from a gentle, loving teacher for hatchlings into a fierce protector.
