Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

After The Fact is named after his odd habit of forgetting something, screwing up, then going back and doing it all over again to do it right. Even before he was hatched he was doing this; when he was trying to put the first cracks in his egg he accidentally stuck his head all the way through the fragile shell. He then remembered he wasn't supposed to do that and patched his egg back up the best he could from the inside. After The Fact's parents were a bit surprised at first when their hatchling decided to hatch again after doing it 'wrong' the first time, but soon all they could feel was love with a tinge of exasperation for their little one. When After The Fact got older, he found it harder to keep up his habit. It's kind of hard to hunt the same animal twice, after all.
