The Leodon Dragon is well-known for its astonishing size and short, explosive temper. Although often praised for its undying bravery, its penchant for jumping head-first into unknown situations often leads to more trouble than necessary, especially when the Leodon relies more on brute force to solve problems than its innate skill as a master of fire magic. These dragons are adventurous by nature and enjoy any physical challenge they come across, but nothing evokes a Leodon’s courage more than the endangerment of its kin, both blood and chosen. The friends and family of a Leodon are fiercely guarded, even at the cost of its own life.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Unlike other Leodons, Hermione prefers to use her fire magic instead of brute force; her magic skills are far above average, which might be the reason for this preference. But in other ways she is quite a typical Leodon, especially when it comes to protecting her friends or anyone too weak to protect themselves. She even tried to found an activist group called "Society for the Promotion of Expeditious Whiptails" when she found out that humans often use this type of dragon to carry letters from town to town. It turns out, though, that Whiptails actually like running fast.
