It was previously believed that purple dragons were exclusively female, but this is not the case. Recent environmental shifts have revealed the existence of both genders of this breed. Female behavior is well known; they are primarily herbivores but will eat meat during mating season. On the other hand, very little is known about the behavior and habits of male purple dragons.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

This dragon lumbers about, pacing with heavy steps back and forth. His wings wobble to one side and the other and his long yellow whiskers bob about like loose springs. His pawlike feet splat the ground with atypical ungracefulness. He snorts and chuffs, then bumps his flank against the wall and flops down into a heap on the floor.

Buzama was born a little...different. Rescued from icy outdoor conditions as an egg, he was presumed lost for many hours, frozen near solid in the wet and sticky egg fluid. An older dragon was forced to break his shell and remove the premature Buzama in order to heat him to his required body temperature. He survived, but as he developed, it was soon apparent that there were lasting repercussions of his miraculous rescue.
