Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It was born with a full set of wings.

And look! Its wings have grown larger! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Monica is very cheerful and loves to use her wings in flight simply because she can, and not for any express purpose (i.e hunting). This breed is born with a set of wings, but they aren't usable until the hatchling nears maturity. Monica's extroverted personality was probably caused by her being taken in by her tamer's existing Ridgewing dragons, who essentially stay with her and treat her as their own child. She loves to dig for some reason, and she is satisfied with anything she unearths, even a mundane rock or a bit of clay.
