Frilled Dragons are smaller than most other breeds, but when threatened, they stretch out their wings and frills to appear larger. They generally do not like to fight and prefer hiding to confrontation. Frilled dragons live in small groups and often band together to scare off potential threats. Males also use their frills as a way to attract mates, with those displaying the “best” frills being more likely to breed.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Keytalono has a slightly masculine name because her master sincerely thought she'd turn out male. She is an only child of a frilled dragon and cloud dragon and is especially proud of her heritage. She loves chocolate so much her master has had to hide things that even smell chocolatey. She knew but didn't acknowledge that Fiery Embers had a serious crush on her for years. She was very cryptic of her feelings for him, and only recently have her feelings become clear. After an egg fathered by Fiery Embers was produced by her, their love became visible to all.

She tries to keep order when chocolate isn't around, and finds that she feels at home in the clouds, unlike other frilled dragons she's met. Perhaps it is the cloud dragon in her. She finds it hard to resist trying to float around like a cloud sometimes, which causes trouble when the master is trying to write in their dragon scroll. She's a handful, but she is loved by her master.
