Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Despite being as black as outer space, it has a few bright patterns on it.

And look! It has grown wings and its scales have gained beautiful patterns. It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

While this hatchling's parents love each other dearly, they have always bickered over one small thing: whether warm colors or cool colors are better. Her mother is a blue nebula with a long family history of cool-colored ancestors, whereas her father is a brilliantly bright pink sweetling. It was thus no surprise that they were keenly interested in seeing what hues their daughter would take on... and thus when her true colors as a daddy's girl were revealed, her father was so thrilled that he dragged over a whole bush of berries for her to eat on the spot.
