Perhaps not. It seems to be active during the night.
Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.
A week or so after Hallow's Eve, the newly matured 'good' vampire in the cave, Artemis Cloudfoot, returned one day with not prey, but another eerie, freezing egg he'd found in the veld. Secretly, he raised the egg in hopes that he could civilize it, lest it grow up feral and become a mortal enemy of the clan, like his two sisters. Slashes seems ultimately disdainful towards the notion of other dragons being sentient beings, and sees them as little more than meals that try to escape whenever he nears them. Furthermore, he's willing to battle for the right to kill. Unfortunately, Artemis's attempts so far have proven futile, and Slashes was named appropriately after the mass of scars he's dealt out to the dragon who prevents him from drinking the clan's lifeblood.
