Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Fronya has an low self image. When she was growing up, she lived in a coven of rough-and-tumble dragons that didn't take appearances into consideration, instead, they only focused on what a dragon was capable of. When it came time for Fronya to leave her family and close friends, she flew into an area that was known to be highly populated with fin and frill dragons. Coming across a group of these dragons, Fronya went up and introduced herself, wanting to make a good first impression. The vain and decorative dragons refused to talk to her; they turned up their noses at her battle-scarred body covered in dust from her long journey. For the first time in her life, Fronya felt self-conscious about her body, her chipped scales, fraying claws, marked-up wings, and torn ears, each a trophy from a hard battle. Fronya still fights like a true warrior and holds true to her coven's philosophy, but to this day she lives in a dark forest so no one can get a good look at her and her imperfections.
