Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Proud and majestic, Zircon strides through his kingdom. All are in awe of his golden scales, more so because of his Cave Born status. Whilst not being picky with mates, he still has yet to produce an heir, a golden offspring. Sometimes it troubles him, but he prefers to get on with life. Other dragons ignore his lofty demeanor, for they know it is a front—for Zircon is a dreamer, and lives in his own world mostly. He dreams he is greater than he is, and believes he is less than what he actually is. Truth be told, it is likely the other dragons would accept him above them if he so desired, for it is an unspoken code that they would protect him with their lives, should humans prey on him for his scales.
