Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon... except for the tangle of dangerous-looking vines surrounding it...

Now there are even more vines. Perhaps something is happening?

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Rolasi is a strange one, when she hatched, she took one look at a rose vine climbing up a wall and grabbed it. Surprisingly, the thorns didn't hurt her and she began to climb. It was a spectacle most humans would pay to see! She climbed up that vine faster then a deer can leap over a meadow. When she reached the top, the rose vines wrapped around her and she began to sun herself on the rocks of the cave top. Fearing that she'd die without doing what adult dark green dragons do (digging a hole and rotting away their lives in it), they froze her as an above-ground hatchling, and she's happy as can be. Rolasi is in many ways like her favorite plant, the rose: she's pretty and acts nice, but try to limit her or tell her where to go, and you've touched a thorn.
