Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Magaruk was born of dragons who where highly descriptive, graceful and literature-talented, who took pride in their skills. Magaruk is none of the above.It's a rumor that the minute he hatched, he took a look around, and said "Tha wurld be purdy." And ever since then, dragons and humans alike have been trying to bring out his 'inner talent' for writing, though every time they tell him to describe something, he simply states the obvious in a dull and almost painful matter. He hates this treatment, as he'd rather go leaping in a mud puddle or dirtying the cave floor. Though undescriptive, he's quite playful and often provides a base for a plan that is later improved by his clanmates.
