Waterhorse Dragons received their name due to their horse-like physique and endearing behavior. They are capable of surviving out of water, and when on land their skin secretes a gelatinous goo to retain moisture. However, their large paddle feet are better suited for swimming, and waterhorse dragons tend to move very awkwardly when on land. Waterhorses are very friendly dragons and enjoy playing with humans.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

LevoLeroq is a Waterhorse dragon. As an egg he was literally difficult to hold on to, as the slimy blue egg would keep slipping away and landing in the wrong places, such as the dragons' feeding grounds, or the battle cave. Keeping it in a crib or aquarium didn't work either, as it seemed to find its way out of those too. When it hatched, the little Waterhorse dragon proved to be just as good an escape artist. He confounded every attempt to keep him in the nursery and would slip away from his captors to explore. He would often laugh at them from a distance about how out of shape they were. At that point, his owner had a brainwave. Underwater gymnastic and aerobic classes are now held in the family lake, and LevoLeroq now has something to occupy himself with.
