When Water Dragons mature, they lose the ability to survive on land, entering the water permanently. They are adept swimmers and eat whatever fish are in the lake they live in. They tend to inhabit the same lake for their entire lives, although a few live in the ocean and swim all over the world.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Flutwelle is one of the few water dragons that lives in the ocean, however she prefers to stay near shore and tries to avoid deeper water.

This causes problems due to her immense size, and has given rise to her name, which translates as Tsunami.

While not able to create and actual tidal wave, she was made very large swells from time to time, and if she surfaces too fast she can easily create a wave that is over fifteen feet high.

She is very timid, which is surprising when her size and strength are considered.  If asked, she will mumble something about a bad experience as a hatchling before slipping beneath the waves, and it is very likely this is linked to her dislike of the open ocean.
