Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Golden Sabre is one of the clan's most egotistical dragons. He has gotten it into his head that he is the most valuable most precious best dragon ever in his clan. He believes he is 'all that'. The truth is that he and all the other gold gragons in the clan ARE guarded and protected as if they were immensely valuable treasures. However the reason for that is not what Golden Sabre thinks. The real reason they guard and protect himn is that he and all the other golds, beloved by the clan's human though they are, they present an ever present danger to the clan, for dragon scale hunters will stop at nothing to collect their precious scales. Unfortunately the fact that he has been guarded and protected has gone to his head and now Golden Sabre is not only the most egoistical of the clan's dragons but he is an insufferable snob because of it.
