Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Sempiternal Dream of the Gosland clan was raised in relative isolation by her loving parents within the mountains. She developed a wonderful imagination to compensate for her lack of playmates, and she would climb to the top of a mountain and sit for hours staring at the stars, creating magical worlds in her mind. When she was finally led from the mountains to mingle with the bulk of the clan, she awed the other clan members by transporting them with her tales of faraway places and heroic deeds. Her stories often leave their listeners dazed at the end, as reality and dreams seem swept up together until it is hard to discern which is which. As time goes on, Sempiternal Dream seems ever more reluctant to leave her visions and engage with others within reality. Occasionally she shimmers with something not altogether caused by her effulgent scales, as though she is slipping away from the bonds of reality and into her own dream world.
