Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Its skin is smooth and doesn’t seem to have any color to it.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Little Cub is an exceptionally odd little hatchling; prowling amongst the newborn dragons, his head lowered, he often lashes out with his tail at some of the more pretentious young ones, causing them to shriek in disgust and confusion when the protective oils his skin produces touches them.  He does this every time a hatchling acts up, seemingly to teach them that such behaviour won't be tolerated once it reaches adulthood.  Cub is nearly akin to Conjurus in silence, although he is certainly capable of broken speech.  Despite his rather pessimistic outlook and gloomy form, he is treasured and cared for by the mature dragons of the clan -- most especially by Orca of the Cartel, his adoptive mother.
