Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Electric yellow scales shimmer brightly across its belly, and an even brighter spark adorns its tail.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

This little sparky hatchling loves to roll around on the cave floor, which just happens to be carpeted.  When she does this, the entire floor becomes electrically charged.  The next dragon unfortunate enough to put their foot down on the carpet, get the shock of their life due to the electric charge.  Little sparky just snickers and resumes her rolling on the floor.  Her parents look on these events and sadly shake their heads with a sad exhalation of "Little missy, you just better hope no water dragons ever touch foot in here."
