Bleeding Moon Dragons are mostly nocturnal creatures. When outside in the sun, the small red spatters on their back grow and spread, making the dragons appear to “bleed.” It is said that the darker the shade of red, the more aggressive the dragon. Their tail barbs contain a powerful neuro-toxin which they use to subdue their prey. They are solitary creatures except when mating, preferring to dwell in the caves in mountains or other high places. Their large wingspan makes them fast flyers as well as fast runners, but they prefer to glide instead. Males are very competitive and will try almost everything to impress females, who will choose their mates based on speed and performance. Juveniles tend to form bachelor groups once fledged.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Redest's Night was a dragon that was captured by a group of people that would tie him to the ground and force him to bathe in the sun, his entire body almost turning red. During the night, the moon would make his red scales shimmer as the spots would begin to diminish. He lived in misery and pain for two years before his burning red spots turned to almost a black instead of red. He had broken free of his bondings and used his powerful, yet stale, wings to fly off for protection from the hurtful sun on his sourced back. Finding only a small cave in a tall mountain side to dwell in, Redest Night got to rest in the shade, his red spots almost hiding from sight. In that cave was where he would start a long line of dragons, as his scales were forever damaged from the human's brutality of having him tied down so long in the sun. Try as he might, no female would pick him as his mate. Despite all, he decided to stay in his cave to raise eggs he could protect as he hid from the sun forevermore.
