Desipis Dragons are an extremely dangerous breed, synonymous with the paths of desolation they leave in their wakes. These gargantuan beasts are infamous for their innate ability to control and manipulate the minds of others, which they use to pulverize the sanities of their foes and forge false memories. This power is especially effective on the foolish, and only the strongest-willed individuals have been known to resist a Desipis’s cunning. Most who anger Desipises do not live to tell the tale. Desipis Dragons are especially feared for their uncanny power of absorbing the magic of others with the fire they breathe and converting it into the bright reserves of crystallized mana that decorate their bodies.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Skullsmoke fancies herself a collector. Her hoard is full of mana crystals and rare magical manifestations as well as the more expected monetary treasures, and the walls of her cavern are lined with bizarre skulls. Some belong to exotic animals, while others appear to be human or dragon skulls deformed by magic into twisted horrors. Mostly, she reserves her 'little gallery' for herself, but once in a while she will give tours just to enjoy the horrified looks on other beings' faces.

This female Desipis is always looking for new objects to add to her hoard. Some of it she collects personally in the wild, but only when she can't get it any other way. She views this activity as 'beneath her' and prefers to barter with other dragons to acquire what she wants. Skullsmoke likes to haggle and will drive a hard bargain, with no compunctions about using her manipulative magic to get her way. The fastest way to earn Skullsmoke's respect is to out-haggle her, or resist her magic successfully.
