This hatchling appears to be... dead?

Perhaps not. It seems to be active during the night.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Skeed is a frozen Vampire hatchling, but that doesn't make his personality any less scathing. He's mostly a loner who avoids the other hatchlings like they avoid him, but he usually enjoys the company of his younger sister, Vallye. The two spend most of their nights chasing after the adult Vampires Ayme and Folon, who they admire, or taunting some of the other hatchlings. Skeed has taken a particular interest in the Magi hatchling, Lyude, and torments him above the rest. Secretly, though, Skeed resents that he has been frozen and continues to try and grow in vain.
