Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It enjoys swimming in a nearby pond.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Mandarin-Scented Aquae does in fact smell like the citrus fruit. No one is quite sure why, and magical scans have shown nothing. Mandarin doesn't particularly care about its condition as it has been largely desensitized to the smell. Aside from its smell, Mandarin is a typical water hatchling, playing with other hatchlings in the stream that feeds into the lake where it lives and chasing after minnows in the shallows. When it's not playing, Mandarin enjoys resting in the reed beds on the shore, listening to the red-winged blackbirds squabbling, basking in the sun.
